Step-up transformer

A step-up transformer increases voltage, often so generation can connect efficiently to transmission. It is more common in generation projects than load-only data center service, but it matters for on-site generation and microgrid concepts.

Data center

A data center is a room, building, or campus designed to house information technology equipment at meaningful density. In Volterra context, the important distinction is whether the facility is powered, connected, cooled, redundant, and commercially ready for the intended workload.

MW valuation

MW valuation expresses value relative to contracted, deliverable, or usable MW. It is useful in powered-land markets but can mislead unless the MW basis, timing, reliability, and obligations are clear.

Interruptible service

Interruptible service allows a utility or grid operator to curtail some customer load under defined conditions, often in exchange for lower rates or credits. It can be valuable for flexible load but is difficult for critical IT load unless paired with backup generation, load shifting, or non-critical processes.
