Large load interconnection

Large load interconnection refers to the utility or transmission process for connecting unusually large demand, such as data centers, hydrogen, industrial load, or electrified manufacturing. Rules are less standardized than generator interconnection in many regions, so local utility and RTO procedures matter.

Demand

Demand is the rate of electricity use over a defined interval, commonly measured in kW or kVA. Utilities often bill large customers based on the highest measured demand interval, not just total energy consumed.
